Ganesha With Parashu Batik Small

As the bringer of luck, Ganesha is one of the most popular of the Hindu gods. The loving and wise Ganesha is also the clearer of obstacles and the protector of books and knowledge.

Here Ganesha is pictured with a parashu or axe, the ankusha or hook, a tila gola or sesame ball, and with the palm one hand raised in a symbol of protectiveness.

Ganesha carries the parashu as a weapon to conquer darkness and ignorance. With the parashu, Ganesha will liberate man from the ties of all worldly matters.

Using the ankusha, Ganesha is able to steer his follows on their path, and make sure that those who tarry do not fall behind.

The tila gola is a reminder to us all that although his own size is immense, there is nothing too small to overlook. This is echoed in the image of the mouse at his feet.

Ganesha should always be placed facing a doorway to remove any negative energy that may be entering the room.
