Lord Ganesha Statue

This beautiful figure of Lord Ganesha stands at around 21.5 cm tall. The statuette is made of high density resin and is hand finished.

Lord Ganesh is Lord Shiva's son. He was born when Shiva's wife, the Goddess Parvathi needed someone to guard her chamber. She created a beautiful boy from sandalwood and gave life to him by sprinkling water from the Holy River Ganges over him. She then entrusted him with guarding her door whilst she bathed.

When Shiva returned and tried to enter his wife's chambers the boy refused to stand aside, and being quick to anger he cut off the boy's head, not realising that this was his son.

Parvathi was filled with sorrow and seeing this Lord Shiva ordered his soldiers to go out and bring back the head of the first beast they saw. They men came upon an elephant, killed it and returned the head to Lord Shiva who attached the head onto the body of his son, and gave him life once more.

Ganesha is the remover of obstacles and god of knowledge. He should be placed facing a door in order to protect from evil.
